You don't have to do this step if you have already saved the file once. Skip the the next step.

If you have not saved, Navigate the menu control "Image->Mode->8 Bits/Channel". We did this same procedure with the mask, and you need to do it again now to allow you to save as a ".bmp" file. Why? Because you re-opened the original image and pasted the mask over top of it. So the mode is back to the original mode of "16 Bits/Channel".

Navigate the menu control "File->Save As"; if you have already saved, you can navigate to "File->Save".

Use the same filename, but add the letters "_TOPO" to the end. As shown in the picture below.

Make sure you select the format to be "BMP", then click "Save".

You will get one last popup. Make sure the settings are as follows:

"File Format" equals "Windows".

"Depth" equals "8 bit".

Press "OK" to finish the save.
